Shading TD

SOFA Studio is seeking a Shading TD to join our team for the new animated feature film.

Essential Job Functions:
●The Shading TD works with modelers and lighters to create the look of characters, sets and other objects in the film.
●The shading is created with RenderMan shaders, using a mixture of painted and procedural textures along with sophisticated illumination models.
●Responsible for creation, revision, maintenance and support of the shaders and other digital assets, responding to guidance and review notes from the art director and technical supervisor.
●Digital assets must meet standards and specifications with respect to the appearance and aesthetics.
●Must provide technical support to other TDs who use the shaders in lighting and rendering.
●Self-managing — organized with good time management. Must be able to identify and meet goals

REQUIREMENTS:
●3+ years of related experience and experience in shading or supervising for Animated Feature Films or Animation TV series
●Full knowledge of Maya
●Extensive experience in shading using RenderMan shaders, Slim
●Knowledge of different RenderMan shader types, illumination models, procedural patterns and anti-aliasing skills
●Excellent understanding of 3D computer graphics theory and practice
●Strong programming and scripting skills in languages such as RenderMan Shading Language and RSL plug-ins
●Good taste and sharp sense in terms of shading and lighting
●Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
●Able to work both collaborative and independently.
