MayaMan VS MTOR

i am MAYA user, i would like to use RenderMan for my works, but i know nothing about Programming, i would like to ask is it MayaMan a good method to use MAYA shaders for RenderMan, what is its latest version??? Besides, MTOR is it more easy to control but can only do a simple shaders???

Actually i wanna know the functions, system concept and which one is more useful and effective??

the current version of mayaman is 1.2.10

while Mayaman convert your shading network to renderman shader on the fly, it still have some limitation. read the faq file on their site.

MTOR can do some pretty complex shader not just simple shader.

for your last question, if you are already "mastered" Maya's rendering system and find it limiting your creation, then renderman may help you. But if you are still learning Maya, I suggest you master Maya's rendering system first. Because learning renderman ( whether you use Mayaman or MTOR) is not a easy task ( I mean very complex ) for new 3d user.
