I'm a beginner of 3DCG.
I wanna know is it possible to run 3ds R4 in my pc.
my config of pc is:
PII400
Riva TNT2 16M
192M SDRAM

when I open a sample file(rabbit.max) the pc hangs.........
but when I open other sample files, it works~
有時移動[快取工作列]都hang......
what's the problem?
it that's mean I don't have enough RAM?

用tnt 2 32m 當然會好少少
但勸你用新的display card
現在你可以選用3d lab vx 1或geforce ..

但是你用PII 400 ...
用了新咭也不大作用

你最好升級你部機先用 "MAX 4"如果不是,你會不段hang機.

"3d max 4 "是一個 highend的軟件, ram 一定要多,基本上由128~512m是基本,1G ram 為准. 顯視卡最為重要,如果你能力可以的,最好用" GVX1"但我看你還是用" GF 2 PRO或Gloria II"因為比較平.

做動畫通常Readering時間會很長的,所以用雙 CPU 會較快.

Did you check out the temperature of your CPU, too hot or over-rated? PII is probably.....
Add more ram, try 256Mx4 b'cas it's the most economic.
Try oxygen or 3DLabs VX-1(around $1K) or GVX-1($$$)
I'm using them for my freelance and office work and performing excellent!
Don't trust any GeForce 4 stuff, they are quite fast in realtime rendering but rather unstable in showing the faces, and they don't really support OpenGL at all, so just use Oxygen or 3DLabs product! The rest are for game only!
Note that 'Realtime Rendering' is different from 'Rendering'
1st one is the time needed to show all the graphic on the screen while you are working, including the wireframe and faces, in this case, display card counts.
2nd one is the time to run a production class image(whether still pic or animation), in this case, CPU, RAM and display card counts.

Actually, I've solve the problem when I change my display card to a TNT2 32M. I know it's not enough, but I really don't have the money to upgrade my PC now. I 'll try my best to save money to do so in this summe, coz it's my interest~ Anyway, Really thanks a lot~
