symmetry modelling like the way lightwave can do

why don't you just symmetry it or clone a negative version?

i have tried using symmetry map
and negative clone

but i discovered that when u add geometry to the mesh
they cant work anymore
also Right and Left side cannot merge together without seam in instant subdivison

but now this virtual mirror tool can do everything well

it's even better than the one lightwave have

because the symmetry plane can be defined by facet
that not constrain to YZ plane... etc.

Symmetry map is totally useless unless you want to mirror weights. But, are you sure it doesn't work with negative clone?
you right click on your model and hit clone, scale your model in -1x.

you may merge them with your original to see it with no seam, or you may go modify -> poly mesh -> symetrize polygons. Symetrize polygons is working the same as the addon you've shown.

xsi itself can do it

but that addon can let u interactively add geometry to the mesh in real time
very powerful
