This is my first try of rigging Wings, so please excuse my clumpsy method.
There are three groups of bones, Front , Rear , and the Middle Main Trunk. I have placed the feathers in the suitable places first, then add bones accordingly. I created the Middle Main Trunk first, after seperately created joints of each feather/ group of feathers, just parent them to the closest joints of the Main Trunk with the direction towards the end of the Trunk in mind. It really took me a long and hard time to parent them, especially for the very close feathers.
Then re-oriented the joints. And parent the feathers to bones accordingly. Finally create an ikHandle for temparary Posing use. Some joints may curl unexpectedly while ik was applied, so I set joint limitations to those problem joints to make it straight.
This is my testing rigging of wings. I will add some more Deformers, or re-apply ikspine to test which is best for animation if I have time. Should U have any other suggestion, please let me know, Many Thanks
