Max is good or not!

Max is good to render those IGES from Rhino or SolidWorks, but it would be better to equip with Final Render or Mental Ray to achieve Radiosity, Caustic Effect and DOF..
Max is user friendly, but the NURBS modellers is useless to me as it is not user-friendly. My work flow is Rhino/SolidWorks, then output to Max for Rendering, whether animation or still picture. Note, better to equip something like Texporter!

我以前都系成日這樣問,但當你搵工的時候就知道max系最有用的,特別香港的公司通常不會投資好多錢落軟件度,間公司用正版max已經唔話得,所以你睇到報紙請人通常要識max,其實max的Editable ploy 加 Editsmooth 真系好好用,但我識的朋友當中就唔系好多加以利用,佢地通常會研究maya, xsi。但到最後就無樣精。好似而家慢慢流行的web3d,其中最多人用的cult3d就系要用max了,有興趣來我網頁睇下cult3d做的模型 [url]chris.2288.org[/url]

You are right. The 'patch' is quite useful and better than NURBS. Max is also good at character modelling for game design due to its various plug-in.

The import of IGES in max has little problem in the tolerance. I have to fine adjust those tolerance in Rhino so that the surface won't fip trimmed. And somtimes it's even useless, as the flip trim would not appear all the time due to the characteristic of the curve generated.

rhino做nurbs的 確比max好得多,rhino轉回max通常先系rhino入面將object轉成mesh再export出3ds,如果唔將object轉成mesh,出來的3ds檔會有起角現象,我好少 export 做 igs,因我覺得max的nurbs太差,不適宜修改 igs 。

Nurbs occupy far less memory than meshes, but compute longer than meshes as the degree of the Nurbs increases, the sharp angle you seen from Nurbs can be modified in the panel by increasing those value, note that what you've seen on the desktop may differ from the final rendering with suitable setting. Sometimes I prefer Nurbs to meshes due to the memory and complexity. Meshes for a watch may take up 10M memory, but only 1-3M for Nurbs, of course depends on how detail you construct the drawing in the first place. But I can see you are a 'Pro' in design industry, do you mind telling me your field?

I've drawn a short animation about a flying logo which import into the flash later, but can you suggest any plug-in that directly read an animation into vector arts and tranfer into flash frames?

Do you find Final Render useful for interior design, I found them wonderful, especially during the test render. But the fee of free-lance from the client didn't incline :cry:

Have you ever tried Alias Design Studio, SolidWorks, ProE, UG and Catia? Its pretty good in modelling, but rendering.....not as good as Max because we have Mental Ray and Final Render :wink:

you can export to avi from MAX, and than import the avi from FlashMX, I am using VIZ 4 in interior design, it's build-in the lightscape

I suggest using Vray to render in MAX, it's fast than Finalrender and easy to use,

Final Render

I purchased Final Render and Mental Ray in Mong Kok, but I found final Render more easier to manipulate, although the outcome would not be as good as Mental Ray, still, its a brillant software.

What is Vray? I've never heard of it, any download and disc obtained in the 'market'?

When I import the avi into flash, it is still a movie file, but I want to convert bitmaps into vector animation, what am I suppose to do?

you can use Vecta3D for MAX plug-in to export the format, The Vray is render plug-in for MAX like Finalrender, you can visit this site, but it's GB code, there are some avi to help you, bye.
