just follow these steps.....

To remedy these problems, set your system font back to small fonts.

1. Exit 3ds Max.

2. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel, and click Display. You can also right-click anywhere in the open desktop and choose Properties.

3. Open the Settings panel and click the Advanced button.

4. In the Display group, click the arrow to open the Font Size list and choose:

-Small Fonts, if running Windows 2000

-Normal Size, if running Windows XP

5. Click Close to exit the Display Properties dialog. You will most likely have to reboot the system for these changes to take effect.

Thanks a lot for your reply!
I followed the procedures and set the font size smaller,
but it has the same problem, only the menu bar's fonts get smaller( File,Edit,Tools,Group....)

I am using XP traditional chinese, is this problem about the font type? can I change the font type for 3ds max?

if u use english window, the problem will be solved
however, my font is ok when using chinese window...with max8

Officially, no.

Unofficially, yes, but it will create problems in Photoshop.

So, I suggest you to use the latest version of 3ds Max.
