Normally, we can start the UV mapping from a low or med resolution. UV might have offset between low and hi res model. Thus, we always re-edit the UV mapping back and forward a several times. good luck.

So, should I create a low resolution model and set up its smoothing group first and then export the model to like, ZBrush where I can create a high resolution version and the normal map? After that I should project the normal map to the low resolution model?
