Problem: Crash when use "Parametric Deformers"

Anyone has seen this problem please?

When I use any deformers, it will kick me out and close the 3ds max immediately without any error message. It happens when I use the right panel or use the pull down menu from menu bar. Also, it crashes even if I create a new simiple object. I tried to remove the 3ds max & its regedit, and re-installed it. But it does the same crash. Also, I updated the latest video driver and installed the 3ds max SP1 & SP2. Although it only affects the deformers, it doesn't hurt me too much. However, it is really annoying when I really wish to use it. I wish I can fix it without re-install my windows...

Remark: I am sure I could use the deformer before but it just crashed.

it is a common problem for max if u get file crash.
the only way you can do is to save a couple of times before your file crash.

You mean my data file crashed? However, even if I open a new file and create a new simple object (eg. a box) and change it into Poly. It will kick me out to window when I try to apply any deformers. Any comments please?

are you using max8 or max9?

3DS Max 9 + SP1 & 2

Window XP + SP2

Video: FX5900 Used v93.71 before and updated to 162.18, both show same problem

Tried DirectX 9.0c and OpenGL, both show same problem

post your max file that includes a simple box.
then, i try to change it to Edit Poly.
let's see what happen.

if it works, that mean your video driver or window get problems

mate, i can open your max file by max9,
i got no error msg when i convert the box to editable poly and apply any deformer.
i guess your pc and windows get problem actaully.
