ah, Syd Mead is one of my favor artist. but i didn't had that for my spaceship reference.

thanks for your comments, i agree with my drawing should have more details on it. will do next time.

actually, that drawing wasn't done for my proper concept design. I am recently moving on to digital wacom painting, and that was just one of my practise. But the final result is not too bad. So I put it on my website.

leeho,

the atomatic mapping usually doesn't give you the best result straight away. you always have to modify manually. Only Planar and Cylindrical Mapping were used in this model. But both mapping still need to be adjusted afterward.

mmm...... a bit difficult to explain in words. i might try to show a bit more window capture later on.

要掌握攤 uv 技術的確雖要浸淫一段時間, 分面, 拉uv 更加可以辛苦到死, haha

project uv 同玩 sculpture 差不多, 識得切 parts, 跟住整個模就會容易d :mrgreen:


to andrew: 如果機翼(or 手?) 既uv 駁口位唔o系內則, 收埋o系邊鋒會更好 :wink:

cool!

thanks h20, so good to have opinions from other people.

I do have uv problem on the 'wing', I've thought about to have
the uv border on the 'edge'. But i will need even more accurate uv matching there. Such as the scratching and worn-out will be more on the edge. So I decided to have uv border underneath. Am I correct? Is it still better on edge?

Hi,

great looking design there.

here is my opinion.

what is the scale your spaceship is ??

the reason I ask is because now the scale of your texture ( the bump line, the texture pattern ) make your spaceship look smaller, if your spaceship is suppose to be large, you may want to keep those texture detail smaller.

the specular may be a bit too washed out.

also, the modeling detail is not enough at this moment ( just my opinion), you may want to add some more detail to make it look more functional ( remember, although it's a futuristic design, we still need to give it some funchtional parts to give something the audience can relate to, this is what we call believable ).

hope you don't mind my opinion.

hi tdk,

so good to have comment from you, of course i don't mind what all you said to me. actually, i prefer to have negative comment (with point) rather than just compliment. the negative comement can push me to improve, but the positive don't.

the scale of this spaceship is about a F-14, maybe slightly bigger than that, so is not small, and you've got the point, the scle of the texture does makes it look small, totally agree. will change later on. good point.

the specular.... agree with you again, will change.

the modelling details.... hahaha..... absolutely agree with, it is definitely not details enough, i will add all the details and changing later on. everythin on this spaceship have been done in a rush. i didnt have time to do research. have to give to the client on saturday ( two days later). i would spend more time on it after the deadline.

ok, tdk, thanks for your comments again, hope will have more opinions from you again when i have modified version

其實技術也不是大問題,典型Product designer出身,畫野有mood非常好,但容易滲入太多簡約以至僵化的流線型裝飾主義想法,構想的深度也有待改進,暫時捉不住一個非常煞食的賣點,concept designer最值錢既系食腦,系咪? (negative comment )
