Which software you used?

I think he use Lightscape

It's possible as Lightscape is rather popular in Mainland(although the speed is slow). May be Mental Ray as it is compatible with Max4.2

3 hours for 1 still image is too slow.

3 Yrs ago, I've tried one rendering which took me 13 hrs, its a 'Cartier' Watch with some surface assigned to be Raytrace, the rendering was 4k x 3k resolution.
Computer config:P3 800 CPU, ATI 32M Display,
SCSI 20M HD, Win NT.
Looking back, almost everyone(now) can render faster than me b'cas I worked in a rather stupid way at that time!

I love that kind of greenish blue and late night but high tech tone, brillant!
