low polygon environment model

This is my first post of my work. :D It is my University assignment for games modeling module. The project set-out to use less than 15,000 polygons and 512x512 texture size.

Please feel free to give any comment.

darkElf,

the modeling and texturing are pretty good. it looks better than quite a lot modeling from games,

some questions for you.

i can see some leaves on the top of the wall in the textured image, but not in the wireframe image????

i thought modeling for games must be triangle????? your's is not???

there is a movie or animation linkage in your website 'angkor.mov', it doesn't work!

the job u working in Blitz Games, is it placement job? how did u get that job? u got it through uni?

Hi Andrew, Thanks for you comments!

Yes, there is some polygon plane have built on top of the roof. When I show those plane, it will be a bit messy without texture.

Games model will required to convert to triangle when it import to game engine. As I jsut render it in 3ds only, it is not necessary to triangle it.

I'm have update the link already, please refresh the page and try again!

Currently, I'm working in Blitz Games for 1 year placement in UK. I got the job through the University. But, it will just got a few place only. It's not easy to get one, I guess I'm lucky! :mrgreen:

I have watch your movie, it looks billiant! How's your work? I read that you got a job in a movie company in UK. It will be great if you can share something.

I went to your website again, and the linkage is working now, the model looks even better when on a turning table.

Do you know how big is the art department is Blitz Games? I have applied concept artist job to this company but have no reply yet.

When I was studying in Bournemouth. A team of Blitz Games came to there for a lecture. I remeber that was a good lecture. I have given a black classic Blitz mug, and I still got it. hehe.

I'm glad that you like my animation, thanks. The company I'm working for which is not a movie company. Just a small CG company and ot famous. They used to do a lot of print work. They now trying to move on to animation. Because the company is small, we doing almost everything. Modelling, texturing, animation, layout, sometimes doing concept design....

There is a lot of artist in Blitz Game, the art department is not a seperate department. We are working in terms of project. One team for one game title. Every single team have their own concept artist, modeller, texturer, animators, programmers. Around 20 person each team. Sometimes, people might changing teams to fit their needs.

If you are interested to concept artwork, I think it is not easy to get a place. They got one key concept artist for each team. Some might be two. They all are very experiences with great works. It must has to be highly standard profolio to get this post. If you try the other post it might be easier. Recently, they got post availble. You are try that our again! You'll get more souveir when you get in. Good luck!

So, did your job is a long term job or short contract only? Recently, it is not easy to get a job in film in UK
