The HDRIbase texture CD-ROM enables the user to do a very quick and realistic ligthing setup for 3D-scenes. No more trouble with hours of tweaking to get a realistic lighting, just open a HDRI/EXR and render it with your preferred application (the application must be able to support the .hdr-format). Most 3D-applications are able to deal with HDRIs natively or by assistance of a plug-in. The support for the OpenEXR format will follow soon.


The HDR images on the HDRIbase CD-ROM are able to do even more. Being real 360°/360° hemispherical panoramas without any disturbing elements (e.g. camera/photographer), the operator is able to use them as high-end source of reflection for his/her renderings. This means that you can turn your background freely and multi-directionally in order to receive the most suiting viewing angle for your scenes. No more distortions from the backside of a mirror ball, no camera or photographer inside the reflection of your architectural presentations.

我相信HDR-version已經夠用, us$99 有40張 hdr images, $20就有1張都幾抵

自己整 hdr images 都幾煩, 仲要3000x1500..... 做 lighting 既cger 應該買架

The HDRIbase texture CD-ROM is available in 3 different versions.

product 第一句已經講左有3個version

HDR-version: 40 lighting situations as HDR-format in 3000x1500 pixels (color/monochrome ->80 .hdr-images)

EXR-version: 40 lighting situations as OpenEXR-format in 3000x1500 pixels (color/monochrome ->80 .exr-images)

Bundle-version: 40 lighting situations as HDR-format AND as OpenEXR-format in 3000x1500 pixels (color/monochrome ->160 images)


p.s. OpenEXR 是由 ILM 開發的 high dynamic-range image file format

有一點較特別的是比 HDR-format 擁有更多 channels (R,G,B,A,Y,U,V,Z-depth/surface normal directions/motion vectors)
另外 file size 也較細, colour 也較細致

我認為OpenEXR 的用途在這數年間只可用於一流電影上, 不過我也正在開始研究 OpenEXR 可以有什麼software 可以配合及應用, 希望香港數年後可以用得著吧!!

Digital Fusion already support Exr format for composite.

I think there will be more application to support this format as it have many potentials.

我研究的范圍較集中pre-production 的時期...... programming, shooting, lighting (現場真實 lighting, 不是後期 cg lighting)

因為從 ILM 裡所得資料有限, 未知後期制作還有什麼東西比 HDR-format 有更好玩的地方!

This CD set are MUST have for all Cg users.

CD1 is Full color , the CD2 is MONO tone (black and white) of HDRI images

there are Dosch HDRI collections .... those are Great also

me too...i dun want to spend too much for the disc, hope someone can provide where can buy the 'lo fan'.....
