usually render out sequences and import all of them into post production softwares like After Effects to export avi or quick time movie

if your purpose is for preview on computer only, select in Render Global Settings panel
and choose avi for the Image Format option
and that is

after you set the file format to avi,
In Rendering Mode (press F5), under the render menu
choose batch render
then you can view the avi save in your current project folder

also don't forget to set up Frame/Animation Ext and start and end frame.

I try to use mental ray render to out put as an avi format but how come i can't find it ?

Hi fox0423,

You should able to find the rendered AVI in the "image" folder of your "current project folder ".

btw, I really really recommend you to render in "image sequence" format instead of AVI, especially if you render in mental ray. This will definitely give you more flexibility.
