Seen AVALON? CG is brillant, but the tone is too dark and scary for me, the way people get shot up is spellbinding. Ending however could be predicted. Music is excellent, just like Patlabor and Ghost in the shell, exhilarating!

I think it's effect and CG all super Good~ some even better than Hollywood ...However ..the story seems too slow for normal ppl ......And also hard to understand~ hehe
Anyway it is still a very great Movie ~much better than some
Movies in HK said they have SO HIGH TECH on special effects.. Blah Blah Blah~

The music is also excellent too~ The main theme songs is so match the mood and the whole movie~

Just my little ideas..

I was expecting Avalon since its first anouncement. As a result, I 'jump' to it when I saw it on sell in Sino. The one that I bought is a 2 disc version - 1 for movie and the other as 'Making of......'. However, the second disc don't have substitle. This version cost HKD 100.

Later, another 1 disc version start appearing. I think the VCD also don't have 'Making of......'

Mamoru Oshii 押井守 is the one who brough us 'Ghost in the Shell', 'Patlabour movie 2 and 3', 'Avalon' and 'Blood, the last Vampire'. They are one thing in common, excellent yet slow in pace.

Also take a look on DVD version of 'Blood, the last Vampire' which has 'Making of......'. I am amazed by the number layers used for a single scene. The one I have was by Axixe Cartxxn.

Also 日本特撮片鐵甲機 DVD by 宇宮慶太. It is a TV drama but with heavy special effects. The special effect is not so good as Avalon but worth a look if you like GiantRobot Animation version.

I Also have Blood the last Vamprie + Platlabour 1 and 2 ..
All super good ..and all can see how many effort and time they spend on it ~.. That's something Hong Kong ppl should learn I think ~ hehe

The Avalon is a box set with 2 DVD by Axixe Cartxxn. The first disc is the movie while the second disc is the 'making of.....'. I bought it in Sino in Mong Kok by mid last year.

Anybody seen Black Hawk Down?
A scene telling the crashing Black Hawk was made up of CG, and I almost recognize it as real one, super cool!
