Hi hi, good to see you here, thanks for your respond.

For the Floating City, total 8 lights were used.

1 key light
4 backlights
3 area lights



2 lights were used for the racing track

3 lights for those spaceship

They are all rendered seperately

The final output suppose to be quite big. The advertising agency requested me to render 6k width. But the highest resolution the machine could render was 4500 X 2500 (for this Floating City only). So I guess when you get close to the MTR poster, it looks a bit blur.


Ok, here are two final images

The first image with black background is the original raw rendering

The second one is an image after the colour correction was done by the advertising agency.

The shading I used for this Floating City was very very simple. Just has 4 mapping, which are colour, specular, bump and incandescence.

The project started at the beginning of October. It took me around 4 weeks to complete this poster.

Initially, the advertising agency just wanted to re-use the F1 vehicle and the racing track from my graduation animation. After they saw my webiste, they asked me to build the spaceship from my front page in 3D. The image below was the first layout shown to the client.



The client liked everything of the layout, except the photo background city. They wanted the background to be CG as well. We finally came up a Floating City idea.

I did all the CG stuffs, spaceship, city, track and vehicle. The rest were done by the agency.

Actually, I have made a few seconds short animation for Kelly's MTV. But I am not allowed to show to public yet. The post production company is now doing the edditing. I don't know how long they will use my animation, or they won't even use any of what I done. I will try to post it here later after the MTV launched.
