各位，我想問下你地用緊系乜野機啊？ Display Card 要 support OpenGL 邊一只又會比較好呢，如果display card 方面 Budget 只有 3000-4000 又有D乜野 選擇呢？ 我就睇中左 3D labs GVX1 pro 你地話好唔好。我系一個初學者，rendering 時間令到我學習速度好慢啊！ 尤其是學習 Fur ， paint effect 既時候。 好想你地提供寶貴(專業)意見！

If you want to render faster, you should ivest more in the CPU (or CPUs). Athlon is a very good choice for that. For display card, even a Geforce3 is fine for normal usage 'cause it won't speed up the render.

明白，唔該曬你啊！ 咁我就想問下，我見好多人都話做3d 要用雙CPU，但我眼見好似好少雙CPU既Motherbroad 喎，你地而自己屋企用緊系D乜野configuration 既電腦啊！！ 價錢又系幾多呢？ 如果我要買，Max 都系10000多少小咋....Thanks

2 CPU is slightly better, there are few mother board for 2 CPU, try add more RAM, at least 1G(I have 256Mx3 only) . GVX1 Pro is good as it has output, I used Oxygen GVX1 and VX1 b4, very stable and reliable as it support OpenGL. Elsa is also a very good choice. No matter how good and powerful the config is, try lowering the mesh quantity in your scene is not a bad move!

Dual CPU perform faster, but probably not more than you think, benefit for dual CPU is stability.
My config now(bought in 2 yrs ago):Dual CPU board(made in Tai Wan, model no. forgotton), 2 x P3 450M Hz CPU, 3 x 256M RAM, oxygen VX-1, Ultra wide SCSI HD, Win 2000(WinNT previously)...etc.
By the way, I don't know much about hardware, anybody can tell me about SCSI nowadays?
Try buying more ram b'cas its cheaper than b4, you also needed to spend more $ on display card for faster real-time modelling and rendering.

如果你對Display card有一定的要求，而Budget 又有限，
你可以嘗試用SoftQuadro改卡，效果理想而且又十分容易。
用較低的價錢便能嘗試到高階Diplay Card 的效果。

以下是對應表供你參考
GF256 ——> QUADRO
GF2MX／MX400 ——> QUADRO 2 MXR／EX
GF2 GTS／GTSPRO／ULTRA ／GF2 TI ——> QUADRO 2 PRO
GF3／GF3 TI200／TI500 ——> DCC

上298頂樓有套裝機買，本地同行都有很多人找他買機，砌機都可以，自已買可能撞板，初學者最好用單CPU底板，因為現在CPU 平技術高性能好，雙CPU底板會貴D，Display 咭用Nvidia可以改咭，有可以平D，Ram用133mhz有經濟，到自已成熟有經費容許啦先買部貴D，舊機要來render用這樣最化算。

其實改左之後同原本的貴咭系爭d...
改咭要視乎 原本個將geforce 系邊間廠出
不同的廠會用不同的零件( eg. ram的speed ) ..
改出來效果會唔同..
還有其他因素....

如果你想穩定d...
始終用貴咭會穩定過改咭...

My college is using Xeon Dual 1.7 gig. 512mb ram, nvidia quotro 2 video card. it is super fast (compare with my home computer, just a stupid P2 350, 192mb ram, Nvidia TNT2 videocard)

The faster the better.

i suggest you buy a Geforce 2 Ti and mod it with software to Quotro2. for the video card. This is the way to spend the least and get the best.
