where to buy a DomainNname

hi everyone,

recently, i have posted some of my sketches and animation in 'C G 美術站' linked up with geocities server, but i'm extremely disappointed with the network. im now thinking to buy a domain name and put my works on there, so i need quite a lot of space, maybe 100MB or 200MB, is that very expensive? any suggestion?

- which registration companies are good?
- does anything i have to be careful? any checting companies?

hey andrew,

I have chat with a friend about domain name / web-hosting solutions, he said that Easy Space (http://www.easyspace.com/) is quite good, though it is not the cheapest one.

I'll let u know if i got more info.

there're quite a lot of good package for web-hosting + domain name service in HK. but i wonder if you want to do so in UK instead?

check the http://www.0101host.com/ and http://www.i-creative.com.hk

they offer cheap price range in town.

i myself buy the domain name from esdlife with only HK$168 per yr. but do only a free web-hosting with very little space ... 40M, not too bad for me la!!

thank for ur suggestion, i did went to ur web site, it was a bit slow to load up the page, the problem might be i loaded it up from oversea,

i found a web host web site which is www.webhost.com.hk, does anyone use this?

我想你在選用HOST服務之前要決定你的網頁將會有什麼功能,例如會否有Geustbook/Forum/或用XML/PHP等等去操作的圖片播放功能的用途等等......然後看看那家公司可否提供及支援這些服務。好像ASP/AOD/MySQL/SSI/CGI-/TCL/Ruby/Python/PHP等等程式，一定要了解清楚，這都是我以前吃過虧的經驗。

Gee... I have also heard that most hosting company have a limitation of data transfer per month.

This is quite important when you aim to put large-movie files for people to download.
