i'm a student of arts centre...first of all, i'd like to say that, no matter what would the school provided to you, when you are a "student", there're lots of responsibilty you need to take. computer animation....as many others things, a lot of different medias, ideas, concepts, skills, creativities...supporting what you do. basic concepts or skills are always in the first and the most important; skills in the second!! you know, what you expected the school would give to you was not they teaching every buttons, every step...these suppose you do by yourself...(if you are mature), if a school really teach like that...i suggested you better buy a technical book instead go to school.....when you concern on "money". you read that kind of books, you still get what you want -- "how to use..."
come on guys! the teaching method of secondary school is no longer use in any good university or school....you guys have been poisoned for a long time...still expecting lecturers giving you notes but never study them, i guess you have never write notes for yourself...so, what have you "learned"?!! if you've never explorered, tried, written down...you can learn something after you read/scan? you genius??!!!! XXXXX don't be silly......if you think that's right, you'll be a good technicians....art director, i'm sorry, that's not your field! if you really love cg, all the stuff related to it must interested you, and you'll got guts, and curious to know more, to do more, wanna reaching a higher level. why cg is a profession? you know that, not everyone have that patient, guts, knowledge in both art and animation, and like to spend time for what they think is valued.
moreover, arts centre have changed lecturer 3 times, the reason is 1.ronald left himself; 2. kinson is a good technician but not lecturer, we have complained for that, thus, the arts centre made the right decision...kicked him out!! sunny lam is the best of three, he is good in both senses and skills. Their difference is worker and leader...you're clever & knew what i mean.
lastly, drawings, history, principles, concepts....etc. basic are very important. (of course, including ENGLISH + CHINESE + COMMUNICATION TECHNIQUES) if you even don't know how a man looks, what's a car like...how do you build a model in maya~~? are you gonna to tell the computer, said "make a car, please?", and hit enter, it will produced?! remember, what human got is brain, computer is only a tool/machine for you to control...not you're under control by it!! by the way, animation is a kind of communications:writing skills, presentation skills, get along with others....are courses you've to learn for the whole life!! (and ive do have pe class, but i think is great, is a balance to you and keep you healthy, and your mind smartly! don't tell me that you think doing exercises are useless...or you wanna die early)
i'm don't wanna made anyone upset, i'm here to say if things you're not sure/clear, please stay away, and don't make any comments/rumours to confuse others. there're more i want to say...cuz i'm really unhappy with those who think they're the rights, talk too much but done too less. but i've said enough. if you still don't understand, i'm helpness with that. wish you luck and God bless.
please forgive me if i hurt you, i'm just speak in honest.
i'm stuying well, i'm enjoying my class.
