Life is not easy nowadays, so does in CG field. Competition is going very intense so the only way for studio to survive is cut the salary and people, use freelance whenever project's coming. Many young ppl cannot get job after graduate from training facilities of government - newpaper said animator can earn a lot but now it seems just a dream.
In current stage I cannot see bright future of animation in HK, anyway it's not right time and here's not right place to develop large scale production. In HK, I guess the chance to have good living in CG is teaching 3D, well if U have some kind of degree.
Dawn is not likely coming very soon but I think the situation will get better for sure, well, after the income of ppl in mainland China is close to HK.

我想我未夠資格教IVY,縱然我曾經有一批大學畢業的下屬,因我並未擁有大學學位,正所謂"紅褲仔"出身。現在任何職位都要求大學出生,像我這樣身世的人,要靠人緣才可上位。識我的人會知和信我的能力,不識得我的人靠什麼信我?我試過好幾次去見有關工作,接見我的人,經驗比我還小但學歷比我高,縱然他們看完我那盒成個鍾頭長的Showwheel 都會贊我的經驗如許如許豐富等等…,當然最後是無得做啦,通常其後那些職位都個由一些有大學學位的外國留學生擔任,但他們一般工作經驗都很少,很少處理過客戶的實際經驗。所以我最終放棄這類工作,近年閒時制作自己的作品,有機會會公開請大家給我意見。
從Ivy, CityU 畢業出來的學生,雖然他們能接觸不同的軟件和受一定程度上的基礎訓練,但在實際面對客人的要求時還要很多的經驗去應付。以前的公司我曾顧用他們的畢業生,技巧還可以,可惜當接Job時太有個性,不願按客人要求修改的情況常有出現。縱然客人的要求或許不好,但始終是客人,我們都要盡量滿足他的要求。這是香港的情況,Production House 不要當成是 Art Gallery.
