以前用CG來搵食，到現在當嗜好都是正版。用CG來工作的當然要用正版，如果你經營運輸，難道會因買不起貨車，而去偷別人的車去營業嗎？

以前公司用Softimage 當然公司付錢，到我離開CG界，自己轉學Lightwave ，因論價錢和功能都算合理。由5.6一直升級到現在7.5都是正版（之前曾用Truespace）。本想用 Maya 但付不起，結果到現在都唔識用Maya。但這又何妨？要做木工都不一定要用指定牌子的鋸，最緊要是成品，當然能夠買更好的工具就更好啦。

不過補充一句，如果是初學的話正版翻版都冇所謂。

Did anyone afraid of getting caught by Custume b'cas of using Pirated software, I've heard that if you are not using it for commercial then it is not illegal, that means pirated copies is OK for hobby only, right?
I plan to buy Original Rhino, it is just 7K only and no follow up(maintainence) payment!

totally wrong. whether you using it for hobby or commercial, pirate is ILLEGAL.

It's just for hobby, the Custume department won't bother to catch you. They just put the resource for company using illegal software.

hobby or not, it's illegal.

but, as noomo mentioned, for student, or anyone just start to learn 3d, I think no one will blame you.

I've checked their statement and they claimed it would be illegal if you use any pirated software for any commercial use, that excluded my hobby(not freelance!), how about that?
I'm not hearby encouraging anyone using any pirated software for any use!
I've checked this out with the officier of H.K. Custume, they claimed 'Commercial Use'! Of course they won't(not will) spend they resourses on catching CG freaks like us b'cas
1. No one is reporting
2. Penality is rather low, so it's a low gain.
They'd rather to catch big company, so to speak.

if you check those license agreement that come with most of the software, they clearly say that

copying the software without permission

using the software in more than one machine at the same time

alter the software without permission ( this mean crack the software )

all the above are illegal.

anyway, I encourage anyone buy the real one when you start to make money using the software (freelance or start your own company )

I used to get cash for freelance job, as I got my freelance job from other person who took the job, so he is the one who get the cheque from the client. [/u]

I used to work in Japan for 3 years, I bought my original software for my first freelance job, some JP client require you to use legal software for their work.

Since then, I'm always put the software cost into my quotation.
